How long should I do a juice cleanse?
If you want to give your body and mind a short but effective break (e.g. over the weekend) or if you are a "newbie" and want to slowly get to grips with the topic of juice fasting, start with a 3-day juice cure. This period of time is sufficient to fully adjust mentally to fasting. Consuming only juices instead of solid food for 3 days is an effective reset for body and mind. At the same time, it represents the first step towards a holistic way of life and triggers the first steps towards "autophagy".
A 5-day juice cleanse is recommended for the more advanced with fasting experience or those who want to maximize positive fasting effects such as autophagy and increased energy immediately.
A 7-day juice cleanse should actually be reserved for experienced fasters who have already established a good connection to their body and its special needs during the fast.
Would a colorful or green juice cleanse suit me better?
A colorful juice cleanse, like the classic juice cleanse from DALUMA, consists of roughly equal parts of fruit and vegetables and offers your body the best combination of high-quality micronutrients (vitamins and minerals) from both sources. The sweetness of fruit is based on its fructose content. It is not surprising that "colorful" fruit-based juices have a higher sugar and therefore calorie content than "green" juices made from vegetables with a lower fructose content.
For beginners, it is advisable to start with a colorful juice cleanse. The sweetness of the juices, a stronger feeling of fullness and the higher energy content make juice fasting easier initially and support you mentally during your first juice fasting experience.
After you have gained your first fasting experience, a "green juice cleanse" for more intensive fasting is also a good idea. In terms of taste, the vegetable juice cleanse differs from a "colorful" juice cleanse and has different nutritional values and provides less caloric energy. On the other hand, a "green" juice cleanse can support an alkaline environment in your body and balance acidity from factors such as coffee, sugar, meat, and dairy consumption. This can positively affect your mental energy and overall health status. In addition, with a "green" juice cleanse, a continuously low insulin level is reached more quickly and the state of autophagy, also known as the body's own cell regeneration, sets in faster.
What are the advantages of an alkaline juice cleanse?
An alkaline juice cleanse is recommended for those suffering from over-acidification. This can often be associated with unspecific but stressful symptoms such as exhaustion, headaches and susceptibility to infections¹,²,³.
You can easily find out whether you are suffering from hyperacidity with a urine test or by taking a blood sample to determine the blood pH value. With the alkaline juice cleanse, you replace acidic food components with basic ones. This will kick start your body's pH into the alkaline range.
During the alkaline juice cleanse you avoid acidic foods (e.g. meat, dairy products) and initiate an increased intake of the minerals calcium, magnesium and potassium.
